The HUB4NGI Experts Board consists of experts in a variety of key NGI areas, including Blockchains, Discovery of Data, Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs), and more. The members of the HUB4NGI Experts Board are currently the following:
Mathieu d’Aquin is Professor of Informatics specialised in data analytics and semantic technologies at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics of the National University of Ireland Galway. He was previously Senior Research Fellow at the Knowledge Media Institute of the Open University, where he led the Data Science Group. Mathieu is leading research and development activities around the meaningful sharing and exploitation of distributed information. He has worked on applying the technologies coming out of his research, especially Semantic Web/Linked Data technologies, in various domains including medicine, education especially through learning analytics, Smart Cities & the Internet of Things, personal data management, etc.
Since September 2015, Sabrina has been employed as a postdoctoral researcher at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and director of the Privacy and Sustainable Computing Lab. She is also the Scientific Coordinator of the Scalable Policy-awarE linked data arChitecture for prIvacy, trAnsparency and compLiance (SPECIAL) H2020 project which will run from January 2017 to December 2019. Her research interests include: privacy, security, reasoning, querying, data analytics, Semantic Web, and Linked Data.
Christiane Wendehorst is Professor of Private Law at the University of Vienna and Vice-President of the European Law Institute (ELI), of which she is also a Founding Member. As an expert of European and national private law with a special focus on contract, consumer protection and conflict of laws, she is a Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), of the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL) and of the American Law Institute (ALI).Ms. Wendehorst sits on the boards or advisory boards of various academic bodies and associations and serves in international research groups. She regularly provides expert advice to governments and legislative bodies at a European or national level.
Axel Polleres heads the Institute of Information Business of the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien) which he joined in September 2013 as a full professor in the area of Data and Knowledge Engineering. Since January 2017, he is also a member of the Complexity Science Hub Vienna Faculty. His research focuses on querying and reasoning about ontologies, rules languages, logic programming, Semantic Web technologies, web services, knowledge management, Linked Open Data, configuration technologies and their applications. He has worked in several European and national research projects in these areas. Axel has published more than 100 articles in journals, books, and conference and workshop contributions; co-organised several international conferences and workshops in the areas of logic programming, Semantic Web, data management, Web services and related topics; and acts/acted as editorial board member for JWS, SWJ and IJSWIS. Moreover, he actively contributed to international standardisation efforts within the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), where he co-chaired the W3C SPARQL working group.
